Living with ADHD

ADHD often feels like your mind is constantly moving, even when your body isn’t.

Thoughts race, ideas pop up in every direction, and focusing on one thing can feel almost impossible. You may start tasks with energy and excitement but quickly get distracted, leaving a pile of half-finished projects behind.

Everyday routines like paying bills, responding to emails, or remembering appointments can feel overwhelming, even when you know what needs to be done.

Emotionally, ADHD can bring frustration, self-doubt, and guilt, especially when you notice others around you staying on track while you struggle to keep up. Hyperfocus can make you deeply absorbed in something you love, but it can also make it hard to switch gears when needed. You may crave structure yet resist it, want to be productive but feel scattered, and long to feel “normal” in a world that seems designed for people whose brains work differently.

How Therapy Helps ADHD

People with ADHD are often creative, spontaneous, energetic, and resilient. With the right strategies and support, they can harness their unique strengths while finding ways to manage overwhelm, stay organized, and feel more in control.

Therapy can help you manage ADHD by providing tools to focus, organize, and reduce overwhelm. Together, we’ll explore strategies to manage impulsivity, build self-compassion, break unhelpful patterns, and harness your unique strengths so you can feel more calm, confident, and in control.

Improve focus and organization. Learn practical tools to structure your day, prioritize tasks, and reduce overwhelm.

Manage impulsivity and emotional reactivity. Develop techniques to pause, reflect, and respond rather than react.

Reduce self-criticism and build self-compassion. Shift from frustration and guilt to understanding and acceptance of how your brain works.

Break unhelpful patterns. Address procrastination, avoidance, and other behaviors that create stress or block goals.

Harness strengths. Identify your creativity, energy, and problem-solving abilities, and learn how to use them intentionally.
